diabetes monitoringDiabetes affects a lot of people in the world, and one-third of all people with diabetes don’t know they have the disease as it often presents no symptoms. Signs and symptoms of diabetes are extreme thirst, increase in hunger, frequent urination, and tiredness. Some other symptoms and signs can be tingling sensations in the hands and feet, weight loss, and a lack of concentration.

There are two types of diabetes: type one and type two. In type one diabetes, more severe symptoms may show up earlier, whereas in type two diabetes, the symptoms might not show up at all. In type one diabetes, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) is very common as a primary symptom, but in type two diabetes, there are usaually no signs of low blood sugar. Another difference between type one and type two diabetes is that in type one diabetes, only five to ten percent of all people are diagnosed, where as in type two diabetes people are usually diagnosed in adulthood. In type one diabetes, the immune system also eliminates the insulin in your body, and in type two diabetes people are usually resistant to the effects of insulin. For people with type one diabetes, the symptoms cannot be reversed, but in type two diabetes, many of the symptoms may be prevented with healthier eating habits and lifestyle.

People with diabetes can also freely eat specific types of meats, proteins, vegetables, and foods high in fiber.

DexcomThe items that help monitor your blood sugar for people with diabetes are insulin pumps, blood glucose sensor and app (Dexcom), and a monitoring pen. Insulin pumps help provide insulin that is not made inside the body, the blood glucose sensor and app (Dexcom) helps monitor your blood sugar everyday, and notifies the users of the glucose levels on an app. The monitoring pen is used to check your blood sugar (just like the Dexcom app), but the readings tend to be more accurate than the ones provided by the app.
