Effective College Coaching

Feel secure knowing that your child has the coaching they need for their transition to college.

In the U.S., 1 in 5 children are neurodiverse. It’s common for students to struggle with cognitive strategies while trying to gain the academic knowledge they need to earn a degree or certificate at the collegiate level.

But success in the classroom is only half the battle when it comes to academic achievement. That’s why the academic team at CLE works closely with each student to give them the extra support they need to succeed.

We also communicate regularly with parents on challenges, updates and other matters that aren’t addressed through direct campus communication.

Why Choose CLE?

CLE is dedicated to providing comprehensive academic supports and nurturing neurodivergent young adults to help them achieve their higher education goals. Our unique approach combines flexible programs, individualized guidance and strategic partnerships with a huge assortment of institutions of higher learning.

With nearly 100 colleges in close proximity to our eight CLE locations, our extensive scholastic network provides diverse academic opportunities, allowing students to pursue their passions and interests. Whether it’s a renowned university, a community college or a specialized institution, CLE has the capabilities and resources to support our students wherever they want to go:

CLE is Not a College

We’ve talked to many families who are initially a bit confused about CLE’s role in their child’s educational journey. That’s totally understandable given our active involvement in higher education settings. We work closely with colleges to ensure a smooth transition, foster inclusivity and advocate for the unique needs of our students.

CLE itself is not a higher education setting that grants degrees. Rather, we exist to support students as they pursue their independent living and academic goals. Students enroll in CLE while simultaneously getting started in higher education to vastly increase their chances of academic success.

We understand that the journey to higher education can be both exciting and challenging. That’s why our programs are designed to meet students exactly where they are on their academic path. The CLE program is a completely flexible, comprehensive support system that ensures our students have access to academic resources, individualized coaching and skill-building programs that enhance their learning experience and promote their success.

In other words, it’s never too early or late to apply to CLE.

A Pathway to Success

Our research shows that one-third of CLE students previously attempted college on their own and recognized the need for additional support. Adjusting to the unique campus climate of higher education can present significant hurdles for many students, including:

  • Learning “how to college” – Many students need instruction on how to advocate for themselves, communicate with professors, track long-term assignments and study independently.
  • Spending time wisely – Students of all ages, genders and walks of life struggle initially to manage all the free time they have at school, where they have to be proficient in organizing assignments, accomplishing “adulting” tasks and initiating new activities in an unfamiliar environment.
  • Overcoming social nerves – Being thrown into new and different social environments is a tough challenge that can overwhelm students who lack a way to find and create peer connections.

We understand these challenges and know what it takes to help your child meet them head on. Our programs are designed to foster growth, independence, and academic achievement, and our experienced staff understands the unique needs of neurodivergent students and is dedicated to providing the guidance and resources they need for success.

CLE Is a Crucial Supplement to On-Campus Assistance

Finding colleges that help with learning disabilities can be a struggle. That’s because post-secondary academic institutions are not obligated to identify and support students with disabilities, and individual disclosure of a disability is always voluntary.

That means every time a student needs accommodations (like an alternate test location, for example), they must submit a request. School is hard enough for neurodivergent students without having to advocate for themselves every time they need the assistance they deserve.

This is why parents enroll their students in CLE when they go off to college. CLE provides the type of personal assistance and support that goes far beyond what traditional college programs provide. We act as a liaison and coach that helps remove frustration from our students, while teaching them accountability and responsibility at the same time.
