Q&A

CLE: What are some of your proudest accomplishments with CLE?

Ryan: Well, I did not think I was ever going to be able to do college. CLE helped open the door to college with their tutoring. I had trouble communicating and building relationships before attending CLE, and now I lead a study group and a workout group. And, I now understand where and when to draw boundaries and when not to.

I just graduated CLE this year. I am studying aerospace engineering at Community College of Denver. I have a year-and-a-half left there, and then I’m going to transfer to CU for the B.A

CLE: If you were going to recommend CLE, what would you say?

Ryan: They have great academic supports, especially the way tutors approach subjects in different ways, thus allowing me to gain the information more solidly.

Independent Living Skills is supportive and will branch out after the basics to include things like planning a vacation. The community and social opportunities help you get out of your shell.

CLE: Is there a moment at CLE that made you say, “a-ha!”

Ryan: I never built relationships prior to CLE. Now I have good friendships with other students. It’s super cool, some of us are going to move in with each other.

CLE: What would Tom (CLE Denver director Tom Di Cosola) say about you that you won’t say about yourself?

Ryan: That I am hard working, but I don’t think so because I have fun doing it.

CLE: Is there anything that didn’t happen while you were at CLE that you wish would have?

Ryan: Nope. I would not change a thing and I’m really happy with where I am.
