Anna’s mom Margie on her daughter’s CLE experience:

My daughter Anna was born prematurely and developed health problems that affected her academic and social abilities. She struggled during her school experience, all the way through high school. She frequently needed extra help because of mild cerebral palsy and a nonverbal learning disability, but she was always a very determined child.

Anna always wanted to go to college, but we were at a loss as to what to do after a two-year community college program. We learned about CLE and, since enrolling, Anna has flourished. She now wants to be a journalist and is working toward earning her associate’s degree.

The academic tutoring through CLE has been great for Anna. The staff has been a valuable resource and they feel like a family to her.

Anna is happily independent and, for the first time in her life, she has genuine friends.

Anna has also gotten involved in political and environmental causes on campus. On her own, she decides which campus events to attend and gets herself there. Prior to CLE, she had never crossed the street alone. The progress Anna has made is amazing.

Like any parent whose child is away at college, we miss Anna, but we feel fortunate to have found CLE. We keep pinching ourselves because we still can’t believe this wonderful resource is real.
