Austin is home to about 750,000 bats in spring and summer and up to 1.5 million at the peak of bat-watching season. It’s the largest urban bat colony in North America.

The State Capitol
The Austin, Texas state capitol building is the largest state capitol building in the U.S. The state capitol opened May 16, 1888. The dome of the building stands seven feet higher than that of the nation’s Capitol in Washington, D.C. Another fun and interesting fact most people don’t know is that the Austin, Texas capitol building is made from Texas pink granite!
Hook ’em Horns!
A worldwide symbol of the cities pride and joy, the Hook’em Horns hand signal is in fact the official symbol of the Texas Longhorns. Also, you’ll know the Texas Longhorns have won their football game if the University of Texas tower is glowing with bright orange lights.
