CLE Austin TexasArts, Recreation and Sports Make Austin a World-Class Destination

Austin plays host to vast recreational and outdoor activities well-suited to help students with learning disabilities, nonverbal learning disorder, ADD, Asperger’s, autism and other special needs develop their independent living skills.

With sunshine more than 300 days per year, Austin offers College Living Experience (CLE) students access to the Texas Hill Country, a destination for people who love fishing, water sports, bike trails, ball fields and picnic areas. Downtown Austin, known as the Live Music Capital of the World, is host to a variety of music events throughout the year. Favorites include the South by Southwest entertainment conferences and the Austin City Limits Music Festival. The Texas capital is renowned for its cultural and civic attractions including the Long Center for the Performing Arts, the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum, and the Bob Bullock Texas History Museum. Austin features a multitude of deluxe shopping areas, including the Sixth Street entertainment district and the Guadalupe Street shopping district. The Domain, a new upscale outdoor mall boasting a variety of shops and restaurants, is located less than two miles from CLE. More recreation options are available within a 90-minute drive to San Antonio, such as Six Flags Over Texas amusement park, the San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball team, and the world-famous Texas landmark, the Alamo. Convenient Setting of Austin

Located 12 miles north of downtown Austin, CLE and adjacent student residences are in a sumptuously landscaped suburban setting that offers students independent living and convenient access to Austin’s diverse educational and enriching extracurricular opportunities. A pharmacy, coffee shop and quick service restaurants are all within walking distance of the student apartments. The district known as the Arboretum is also nearby and is home to specialty shops, a grocery store, movie theaters and hotels.

Residence Features

The rolling hills of Central Texas surround the AMLI at Stonehollow luxury apartment complex where CLE-Austin students reside. The apartments are located directly across the street from CLE and adjacent to the Austin Community College Northridge campus. The apartments feature a variety of floor plans, three swimming pools and a heated spa, 24-hour fitness center, media center and numerous picnic and recreation areas. A resident advisor provides additional support for CLE students at the AMLI apartment complex, facilitating an effective college or adult transition experience for students with special needs.
