In 2022, Rockville, Maryland was named the 20th best place to live in the U.S. according to Money Magazine’s annual rankings. Thanks to its vast restaurants and breweries, “super walkable” downtown and plethora of outdoor activities, there is no shortage of things to do in Rockville.
There is also no shortage of higher learning institutions in and around the diverse and exciting suburbs of Washington, D.C. Students in the CLE center in our nation’s capital thrive because of all the social and educational opportunities they get to enjoy. Max Newman is one of those students.

Q&A
CLE
Now that you’ve graduated, what are some of your long-term goals?
Max
Eventually, I would like to work my way up from a part-time program assistant at CLE to a full-time program assistant. I also want to keep living independently and hanging out with my friends two to three times a week, like how I learned to do.
CLE
During your time at CLE, is there a moment or two that you remember being very important to you?
Max
I would say becoming an apartment student. I started out in CLE during the day while living at home. I was nervous to move away at first. But once I moved, I got more used to living in an apartment and being independent, and I really liked it. I got more confident about reaching out to people and making friends.
CLE
What do you think is one of the most important things you learned at CLE?
Max
Managing my money. Writing down finances and making a budget helped me eat better because I knew how much I could spend on healthier items at the store, instead of always eating out.
