Building Skills for Building Independence
OVER THE YEARS, CLE HAS HELPED HUNDREDS OF YOUNG ADULTS FIND JOBS. LAST YEAR, WE HELPED MORE THAN 80 PEOPLE GAIN EMPLOYMENT ACROSS 20 NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND 50 REGIONAL COMPANIES.
Our Career Development Program helps students build and gain the skills they need to land full-time and part-time jobs, as well as internships and volunteering opportunities.
Our Three-Part Professional Plan
1. Career Exploration
Through field research and training—from formal assessments to company tours—our Career Development team helps students assess career interests, explore workplace environments, and develop skills in searching and applying for jobs. We also hold career workshops where students learn how to create resumes, practice interviews, develop customer service skills, and much more.
2. Pre-Employment Training
Our Career Development team works with students to provide job coaching, training, and how to tackle new tasks at work. In addition, students will develop fundamental labor skills through internships, apprenticeships, and volunteering. We will also spend time teaching students how to successfully communicate their needs to supervisors.
3. On-the-Job Support
Our Career Development team doesn’t stop when the job starts. In fact, we work with both the employee and employer to ensure the best possible experience for both sides.
For workers, we coach them on how to engage in positive behavior and demonstrate good working skills in order to maintain employment.
For employers, we educate them on the many benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities, how to handle employee performance concerns, and evaluating employee performance.
