Job Summary

The CLE team is looking to add a versatile, proactive, detail-oriented, positive individual who enjoys making a difference, being part of a team and takes pride in their work.

This position is responsible for assisting the Career Development Team in
assessing student interest inventories and vocational evaluations and providing direct employment instruction. Responsibilities include developing functional career goals, measuring individual student progress, and providing on-site job coaching. Additional duties include developing a network of internship, volunteer, and job placement opportunities with local and regional companies, as well as providing support to students who are in enrolled in certificate programs or in extra-curricular workshops within the community.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Addresses with the student any identified deficiencies and records findings and actions taken in required written report in CLE database. Also notes performance of student according to workplace competencies prior to/during/following work placement.
  • Administers and evaluates interest inventories and vocational assessments as it relates to each student’s individual skill set to determine the instructional needs for career development.
  • Provides accurate, current, and unbiased career information during career planning and management. Includes the student in the development of their own transition plans by linking post-secondary outcomes to educational and vocational activities. Goal is to develop functional and obtainable career goals according to the interest and skill set of each individual student.
  • Discusses and instructs student regarding work ethics, professional behaviors, and employer expectations. Assists student in identifying changing employment trends, societal needs, and economic conditions when planning career goals.
  • Provides direct instruction and supervision (job coaching) of student in an occupational setting.
  • Develops, implements, and assesses supplemental vocational/career development curricula to assist student in gaining or maintaining an employment opportunity.
  • Develops a regional/local network of vocational resources to provide ongoing placement of students into the work setting.
  • In coordination with Program Director and CLE Career Development team carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training career development part-time or full-time employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, social science, or other related field with a minimum of two years of relevant experience working with special needs students. Master’s Degree preferred.

  • Valid state driver’s license with appropriate endorsement.

  • Skilled in coaching and modeling a variety instructional strategies and programmatic interventions to address life skills, safety, interpersonal relationships, conflict resolution, and time management.

  • Experience in leading and supervising teams

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse population.

  • Ability to anticipate and assess student needs and respond accordingly.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, written and oral skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
